Q: What is the Fabulous (But Very Serious) Las Vegas Drag Weekend?
A: The F(BVS)LVDW is the largest traveling amateur drag performance fundraiser in the world!
Q: Why would I want to participate?
A: You probably don’t.
Q: What does that even mean?
A: The F(BVS)LVDW is a two-day trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. We get on a bus in Hollywood early on Saturday morning and drive to Vegas, where we quickly get into drag and have a variety of activities (happy hour, dinner, photo ops, etc.) that culminate in a drag performance. Then we party. The next morning we have an awards brunch and then get back on the bus and head home. It’s a fast 36 hours. We get inside Vegas, we climax, and we get out.
Q: I don't really want to dress up. Can I come and just watch? A: No! Only participants, please. No spectators.
Q: When is it? A: February 29- March 1st, 2020
Q: How much does it cost?
The fee for participating is $150. I know that this is more than last year, but included is our group dinner on Saturday night, group brunch on Sunday morning, and your drinks on the bus in a commemorative bottle! And we’re staying at the Excalibur, which is cheap! You can make it even cheaper if you split the room with friends.
Other than that, you’ll want money for lunch on the bus, drinks at the bar, and tips for your fellow kings and queens performing. Drinks on the bus and in the hotel are included in the $150 fee.
A: What’s this performance thing about?
Q: At the end of the night on Saturday, we host a 2 hour drag show at a local Vegas bar. You can perform with a group of friends, you can perform solo, and/or you can perform the big group number at the end. Learn the choreography to that HERE.
Q: What is the F(BVS)LVDW a fundraiser for? A: This year we are proud to announce that the F(BVS)LVDW will continue its tradition of raising money for My Friend's Place. A percentage of all of the money that it takes to run this thing will be donated to help homeless youth in Hollywood!
